About Whiti Te Rā
Our shared vision and plan for Rānui
The community-led plan that guides our collective action.
Whiti Te Rā is a community plan shaped by Rānui voices to help guide our future.
It was developed with local whānau, tamariki, rangatahi, kaumātua and community groups following the severe weather events of 2023 that affected Rānui.
Whiti Te Rā brings together what we heard from our community and helps us understand what matters most in Rānui, what's working well, and where we should focus next.
The plan identifies 14 community priorities that guide collective action, strengthen community connections, and help Whiti Mai Rānui and its partners work together towards a shared vision for Rānui.
Community Priorities
The 14 community priorities identify where our collective effort can make the biggest difference and help build a thriving, resilient and connected Rānui.

Whiti Te Rā is a living plan
It captures a moment in time and will continue to evolve as we work with community and partners to identify actions together.
This plan is bigger than any one group. It will help keep the kaupapa alive, build shared momentum, and support collective action over time.
Whiti Te Rā is guided by the whakataukī Ka tō te rā, ka rere he rā, recognising that when one sun sets, another rises. The plan acknowledges where we have come from, reflects the voices of our community, and looks towards the opportunities ahead.
-

Ka tō he rā
The sun sets
What Rānui has come through and the challenges we continue to face.
-

Ka rere he rā
The sun rises
What is most important to Rānui and the priorities our community identified.
-

Ka whiti te rā
The sun shines
The opportunities and potential actions that will help Rānui move forward.
